What is the Harvest MicroPen™ ?

Harvest MicroPen™ is a revolutionary cordless dermal micro-needling device used by skincare professionals worldwide.

Improve Texture, Fine Lines, Scars And Pigmentation*
No Downtime, No Discomfort
Microneedling is a minimally invasive aesthetic treatment which involves gentle mechanical skin resurfacing with very fine surgical steel needles that oscillate at 6000-8000 rpm for effective resurfacing with minimal trauma. Additionally, microneedling creates micro-channels into the deeper dermis with fine needle punctures allowing for deeper penetration of medications and other nutrients into the skin.

Micropen Acne Scar Reduction

It is estimated that acne scars affect 95% of people with acne vulgaris. The scars are caused by dermal inflammation and abnormal skin healing following the skin inflammation. Acne scars are can be associated with either excess collagen deposition (hypertrophic or raised scars) or loss of collagen (atrophic or depressed scars) at the site of the acne lesion. Atrophic acne scars are far more common than hypertrophic scars. A series of Micropen CIT treatments can reduce the appearance of mild to moderate atrophic scars via resurfacing the skin surface and induction of collagen. For acne scar treatment, 3-6 Micropen sessions 4-6 weeks apart are recommended for most individuals. For deeper acne scars, we recommend adding PRP injection with scar subcision to the Micropen treatments to further boost collagen induction. For ice pick scars, subcision and PRP injections are combined with a Hyaluronic acid dermal filler like Juvederm to reduce the scar depth.

Micropen Photodamage Reduction

Photoaging is skin aging due to chronic UVA and UVB exposure. Photoaging can be superficial and deep.  Micropen, like some other skin resurfacing treatments such as medium depth chemical peels and light laser peels, removes the skin surface dead cells, impurities, pigment and induces collagen in the surface of the skin via a process called CIT (Collagen Induction Therapy). Due to its mechanical exfoliating action on the skin surface and the collagen induction in the epidermis, Micropen is a suitable treatment for correction of early and superficial photoaging with little or no downtime. Use of Tretinoin in between the Micropen treatments can further improve the signs of skin surface photoaging such as surface brown spots, fine lines, poor skin texture and large pores. Micropen will not improve new blood vessel formation and deeper skin damage (deep wrinkles, loss of elasticity) due to UV exposure. A series of Micropen treatments is recommended to get the desired improvement in photoaging. The number of treatments varies with the individual response, for most people, three treatments, 6-8 weeks apart, followed by a maintenance schedule may be sufficient.

Micropen Stretch Mark Reduction. Actual patient, individual response varies

Micropen Stretch Mark Reduction

Stretch marks are a very common condition that affects both men and women. They occur due to a sudden expansion of the skin. Stretch marks appear as narrow streaks which differ in color and texture from the surrounding skin. The most common places for stretch marks are, the tummy, thighs, hips, breasts, upper arms, and lower back.
Stretch marks usually start as reddish or purplish shade, which over time fade to silvery white streaks. Stretch marks are actually dermal scars caused by atrophy of the epidermis dues to over stretching of the skin that does not bounce back to its normal size.
Like most other dermal scars, stretch marks cannot be completely removed but their appearance can be improved with a series of skin resurfacing type treatments that remove surface cells and stimulate new collagen production. The number of Micropen treatments needed to get the desired results for your stretch mark treatments will vary with the type, severity and depth of your stretch marks, your genetics, your response to the treatment and other factors. We combine topical prescription creme with Retinol and sometimes PRP injection treatments to enhance collagen induction and improve pigment changes associated with stretch marks.

Hyperpigmented scars present a challange escpecially in individuals with darker skin tones because the very treatment for scar and pigment improvement can lead to further hyperpigmentation. Micropen with its mechanical skin exfoliation and collagen induction has minimal to no effect on pigment induction and makes suitable scar treatment for dark skin.  PRP  has eight growth factors which lead to pigment reduction in more than one ways. The regeneration of healthy new tissue, collagen and hyaluronic acid lead to plumping of the skin which minimizes the appearance of pigment.  Among these growth factors is TGF-β1, which has been investigated for its action on the melanocytes and its role in reducing the pigmentation in melasma.
