PRP Alone for Non-surgical Hair Regeneration in Dallas and Southlake
PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) is an advanced treatment physicians have used to help repair damaged or injured tissues in the body. This minimally invasive procedure helps initiate the regenerative process by harvesting the growth factors that platelets are known to contain. PRP treatment is autologous; there is little to no risk of rejection or allergic reaction.
If you are suffering from more than early and mild thinning of hair, you will likely need a little more invasive non-surgical hair regeneration treatment in addition to scalp products to reduce DHT, any topical medication to reduce hair loss and the non-invasive FDA cleared thinning hair treatment, LLLT. For management of more advanced hair loss, BEFORE you get to a severity level with areas of completely bald patches and total loss of hair follicles with thinning and scarring of scalp, there are currently two types of minimally invasive non-surgical hair regeneration treatments available:
- PRP injection treatment for hair regeneration
- PRP + ACell injection treatment for hair regeneration
The Platelet Rich Plasma – PRP for non-surgical hair rgeneration
PRP Procedure is fast and relatively painless
The PRP procedure is relatively quick. To prepare your PRP for non-surgical hair regeneration in Dallas and Southlake, a small amount (30cc-60cc) of the your blood is drawn from your vein (similar to a blood draw for your annual blood work), your blood sample is then placed into an FDA approved PRP kit, the Harvest PRP, and then into a centrifuge device which is then spun at an appropriate speed to separate the PRP from PPP and RBC components. After the blood has been separated and extracted into a syringe, we mix your PRP with other hair follicle nutrients for maximum results from your PRP treatment for non-surgical hair regeneration in Dallas and Southlake. Dr. Malik will numb your scalp with a very small needle for a “ring block” for the fron tof the scalp and an “occipital nerve block” for the back of your scalp before injecting your PRP cocktail into the area of thinning hair. This is followed by micropen/microneedling treatment by our PRP trained assistant of the same area to open microchannels for maximum absorption of PRP +nutrients into the scalp. The addition of micropen treatment further increases your chance of better results from your non-surgical hair regeneration treatment in our Dallas and Southlake clinics. The PRP injection treatment takes a little more than 1 hour including the preparation and recovery time. Immediately after your PRP non-surgical hair regeneration treatment in Dallas and Southlake, you will be placed under the LLLT lamp for 20 minutes to further enhance the results from your PRP hair regeneration treatment.
Dependent upon the extent of hair loss, as well as your individual response from this regenerative treatment, the number of PRP treatments for non-surgical hair regeneration recommended may vary from two treatments up to 3–5 treatments spaced every 3-4 months. Your hair regeneration following the PRP treatment depends several factors and cannot be predicted. Your genetics, your hormonal state, your general health and nutrition, the state of your platelets are some of the factors that determine the hair regeneration response to the PRP treatments.
After eliciting the desired hair regeneration, you will need to continue the topical products, any medications and supplements as recommended by Dr. Malik plus additional treatments every 12-24 months to maintain the newly generated hair.
Harvest PRP Kit Characteristics:
All PRP is not created equal!
The technique used for isolating and concentrating platelets has a direct impact on growth factor availability and functionality.
The Harvest SmartPrep system is the gold standard in PRP technologies and has been used in over 1 million procedures to date and counting. Test tube systems, lab centrifuges and many other so called “PRP systems fail to achieve the threshold of platelet concentration and white blood cell composition required for optimum growth factor function. The Harvest PRP with SmartPrep system consistently and reproducibly generates the optimal platelet concentration that may help optimize the conditions for healing.
