Dallas PDO Thread Facelift
What Are PDO Threads for Facelift?
PDO (polydioxanone) threads are synthetic absorbable threads that have been used in open heart surgery for decades. PDO induces a mild inflammatory reaction in our body which stimulates tissue repair via collagen and new cell synthesis.
PDO Threads for cosmetic treatments are preloaded onto single-use sterile hypodermic needles, ready for insertion into the dermis. Upon dermal insertion, the threads provide instant structural support followed by collagen induction over weeks following each treatment via the “selective inflammatory response”. The sutures completely dissolve in 3-4 months. The results from new collagen synthesis may last 12-18 months. A series of treatments is recommended for best results.
How is PDO Thread Facelift Done?
For your PDO Thread facelift, Dr. Malik evaluates your facial needs and reviews your medical history to make sure you are an appropriate candidate for this treatment. She will discuss the treatment details, alternative options, your personal goals, realistic expectations, recovery time and post-treatment care instructions at the time of your initial consultation.
Most of our patients get the PDO Thread Facelift treatment done the same day as their consultation if there are no contraindications to this treatment.
Before we start your PDO facelift, we take photographs of your face, front and sides, followed by application of a topical numbing creme to the areas of PDO thread insertion. We like to leave the numbing creme on for about 30 minutes for adequate anesthesia. Dr. Malik will then insert the PDO threads into the already numb skin starting from the jawline and moving up to the lower face, nasolabial folds and finally the cheeks.
How Long Does The PDO Thread Facelift Treatment Take?
The entire PDO thread insertion takes about 30 minutes. We like to have you numb for about 30 minutes before we start PDO Thread insertion. Your total time for the entire treatment is about one hour and 20 minutes, which includes before treatment photos, numbing, PDP Thread Facelift, and after treatment photos.
Is There Any Recovery Time?
For each PDO Thread Facelift, Dr. Malik inserts a minimum of 30 threads. Depending on your skin type, presence or absence of broken or dilated blood vessels on the skin surface, history of NSAID intake, alcohol intake etc. you may have a few or more areas of small localized bruises and mild swelling from the bruising. Bruising and swelling can be minimized by avoiding NSAIDS and alcohol prior to the treatment and with the application of pressure and cold compresses after the treatment.
