Dermalift Cellulite Reduction
Dermalift Cellulite Treatment
What is cellulite?
Cellulite is a skin condition consisting of accumulation of fat trapped in the pockets of connective tissue beneath the skin leading to progressive dimpling of the skin. Also referred to as “orange peel” or “cottage cheese” appearance of the skin. About 90 % of women are affected by cellulite after they reach puberty.
Cellulite deposits occur as a result of a number of biochemical and metabolic alterations at an interstitial matrix and connective structures level.
These include alterations in fibroblast production, which diminishes the production of glucose amino glycans (GAG) in the blood vessels. At the root of cellulite there is a marked reduction in arterial and venous blood flow and compromise of lymphatic drainage and capillary permeability. This leads to fat cell deposits in the skin (lower dermis) and disruption of the fibrous bands which are responsible for the maintenance of skin elasticity and firmness.
Why are women prone to develop cellulite?
Women’s skin is built differently than men’s skin in order to help them store fat during pregnancy and breast-feeding and also to allow the skin to expand during pregnancy. Fluctuating hormonal levels, mostly estrogen and Insulin cause changes in the skin which lead to fluid retention in skin, reduction in blood and lymphatic circulation, hardening of connective tissue and fat storage in the skin connective tissue causing the development of dimpled cellulite.
