BOTOX® Cosmetic is a prescription medication, which when injected into muscles, causes temporary relaxation of expressive wrinkles such as frown lines, smile lines, forehead lines and bunny lines. The effect of BOTOX® Cosmetic may last for 3-5 months, depending on the dose injected and the individual response. In our office we use BOTOX® Cosmetic for frown lines between brows and forehead, smile lines and bunny lines. We also use Botox for subtle "eyebrow Lift".

BOTOX® Cosmetic is the most widely performed cosmetic procedure and when performed responsibly, the procedure is quite safe. We obtain BOTOX® Cosmetic from Allergan only, and follow patient safety precautions with all injectables.

Most common side effects with BOTOX® Cosmetic are bruising, swelling and pain at the site of injections. As with all injections, there is a small incidence of infection at injection site. Too much BOTOX® can lead to a transient "drop" (Ptosis) of eyebrows.

We use aseptic technique to minimize infection and a cooling "chiller" during procedure to minimize pain and bruising. Dr. Malik has a "conservative" approach for BOTOX® treatment and aims for "softening" of lines, while preserving natural expression. This appraoch lowers incidence of "over dose" and eyelid drop. She routinely offers a follow up in one week for touch up if needed.
