What is Dermal Aquaphoresis?

The outermost layer of skin- stratum corneum- is virtually impenetrable barrier designed to resist external influences. Topical products cannot penetrate this protective layer therefore have limited success in effectively treating problem areas.

To achieve results, Dermal Aquaphoresis utilizes advanced electrical waveforms and a prescription conductive gel containing ingredients to treat age related skin imperfections. A combination of three electrical waveforms “push” the prescription gel ingredients deep into the skin to more effectively address the skin repair.

How does Dermal Aquaphoresis work?

Your skin has various entry points which allow substances to pass through hair follicles, sweat and sebaceous glands. These openings, however, are not evenly distributed over the skin surface and are too small to allow absorption.

The first waveform of Dermal Aquaphoresis dilates these tiny openings and allows the transfer of active ingredients deeper into the skin.

A second waveform targets muscle tone to increase skin firmness and to stimulate blood flow and micro-circulation. This increased blood flow is critical for the production of collagen which maintains your skin’s smooth texture and elasticity.

Finally a third sequence of waveforms is used for lymphatic drainage of toxins and waste products that can compromise your skin’s ability to repair efficiently.

Are you a candidate for Dermal Aquaphoresis?

At your initial visit, Dr. Malik will review your medical history and examine the treatment area to determine if you are a candidate for this treatment. Certain conditions may interfere with the treatment. If you have history of skin cancer of the area, or have a cardiac pacemaker or if you are pregnant , you cannot receive this treatment.

How many treatments will you need?

We can determine the course of treatments at your initial evaluation. Most people require an initial series of four to six treatments one week apart followed by a maintenance schedule of treatments every 4-6 weeks depending on your lifestyle, genetics etc.. Treatments may be combined with other types of skin rejuvenation strategies such as IPL photo rejuvenation or microdermabrasion to maximize results, depending on your needs.
